Sonoma State University awarded its 100th MA degree in Cultural Resources Management in December 2006.

Melissa Gallagher’s thesis “The Archaeology of late Nineteenth-Century Health and Hygiene: A View from San Francisco” is available in PDF below. Melissa’s work emerged from three archaeological projects undertaken by SSU’s Anthropological Studies Center, which has provided training and funding for most of Sonoma State University’s CRM theses.

Founded in 1979, our CRM program is one of the oldest in the nation and has been cited as one of the best. Emphasizing the practice of archaeology and history in the regulatory context, students work with faculty in Anthropology, History, Geography, and Planning to develop the intellectual and practical skills to become ethical professionals.
