Academic Student Employees

Student employees performing certain types of academically-related work are classified in pay titles that are part of a collective bargaining agreement, Unit 11 (Academic Student Employees) represented by the California Alliance of Academic Student Employees/International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW). Below is some general information for use by potential and current employees in this bargaining unit and by supervisors and managers.

Agency Fee:

Employees in these categories pay an agency fee to the UAW, or if they choose to join the union, union dues.

Authorization for Extra Hours:

For Graduate Assistants working hours beyond the time base, or for Instructional Student Assistants working over 40 hours in a week.
