The SSU History Journal

Presents

Others:
Heathens-Barbarians-Revolutionaries-Outlaws
The History Journal of Sonoma State University is calling for submissions for its 2009 publication. This year’s theme will be Others: Heathens-Barbarians-Revolutionaries-Outlaws. We are looking for submissions of essays, research papers, oral histories, historical biographies, as well as other pieces written by members of Sonoma State. These can be either for a class or on your own. This is open to all students and is not simply a call to history majors! The student editors of The History Journal are open to any creative, interesting, and historically accurate works that pertain to this year’s theme of Others.

Theme: Every country and culture around the world has had its share of “Others.” “Others” refers to the historical people, groups, organizations, and ideas that have gone against the grain or stood out in some way. It might be someone who was a revolutionary or a group that was historically looked upon as outsiders. Maybe it was an idea or campaign that was socially or politically radical at its time. Most of all, these are people who polarized societies into taking sides or a stand. If you have written something that you think fits into the category of “Others” submit it for consideration!

Some Ideas:

Revolutionaries - Political Campaigns

Religious Person(s)/Groups - Military Campaigns

Social Reformists - Great Thinkers/Inventors

Qualifications: The purpose of this historical journal for Sonoma State University is to showcase the writing from our campus. The only request is that submissions be historical in nature and authored by someone from the university. Topics must not include current events.

Style Guide: Please submit via email either MS Word or RTF documents and include your name and contact information on the cover page. Click here for link to Chicago Style
