Administrative Support Coordinator

Administrative Support Coordinator – Level I

Orientation and Family Programs

Position

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Student Recruitment and the work direction of the Coordinator for New Orientation and Family Programs, the Administrative Support Coordinator will provide administrative support for the for New Student Orientation and Family Programs, coordinate preparation for Orientations and Parent and Family Weekend, and provide oversight and work direction to Student Assistants. The Administrative Support Coordinator will coordinate preparation for Orientation day(s); provide support to Orientation Leaders; provide customer service for students, families, staff, faculty and community members; participate in the coordination of Orientation program check-in tables and day-of logistics; handle sensitive student information; participate in post-program assessment and evaluation; and have an active role in the preparation of Parent and Family Weekend.

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or equivalent and the equivalent of three years related, progressive clerical experience in a busy office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be proficient in performing work assignments. Requires knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as the ability to operate in a variety of organizational structures; thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies and procedures, thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects; ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing; a thorough knowledge and the ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages. Requires a high level of computer proficiency and familiarity with office equipment; ability to provide outstanding service to students, staff, faculty, administrators and the public; ability to organize systems, type general correspondence, reports and other documents as assigned; ability to work independently and take initiative; experience providing work direction to others; demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills; possess a positive attitude and willingness to learn; posses an understanding of campus programs, departments, services, current events, and general info; ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature; ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; and the ability to occasionally lift, carry and otherwise move and position objects with assistance weighing up to 50 lbs.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range is $2,808 to $4,212 a month.  Starting salary placement will not exceed the beginning of the range. This is a short term, temporary, full time, non-exempt position working less than six months.  Benefits include vacation, sick, and holiday time earned in relation to hours worked.
