Welcome to the Tutorial Center
Services: The Tutorial Center offers peer tutoring to SSU enrolled students for one-on-one or small group assistance in over 50 courses each semester.
Peer Tutors at SSU are provided in two different ways:
- Make an appointment with a Tutor for individualized tutoring in the Tutorial Center.
- Attend weekly study sessions led by a peer tutor assigned to select courses. If the course has an SI Tutor, he or she will be introduced in your class.
How to find a Tutor and Make Appointments:
NEW!!! As of Fall 2015, all appointments (sessions) for individualized tutoring will be made by you and the tutor directly by using the SSU Tutorial Center website link at https://wiseguy.com/ssu.
To see if a tutor is available for a course, you need to know the course name and number, such as Bio320. Then you need to sign up on WiseGuy.com by creating a WiseGuy student account one time. Follow this link to a pdf of in-depth instructions.
SSU Tutorial Center Procedures
Making Appointments: SSU students can schedule tutoring appointments through https://wiseguy.com/ssu.
Working with a Tutor: The tutor's main purpose is to work with students in understanding concepts from their courses. Tutors can work with students to review homework, course work, and study guides to prepare for tests. We do not allow tutors to do homework for students.
Hours Allowed Per Week: Students may schedule up to 2 one-hour appointments per week with each tutor. If a student needs more time with a tutor, he/she is allowed to schedule an additional appointment, as long as approved by the Program Assistant.
Booking Appointments: Students may schedule up to 2 weeks in advance, our appointment system requires you to request tutoring sessions every time you want to meet with one of our tutors.
Cancellations: If you need to cancel an appointment go on to your WiseGuy account to cancel your appointment by clicking Cancel Session the day before the scheduled appointment, or on the same day before 8:30 AM.
- If a student fails to show up or fails to cancel the appointment more than two times, they can loose their tutoring privileges.
Questions: If there are any further questions or concerns please contact us by sending us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or stop by the Tutorial Center located in Salazar 1061.
