The
Lambda Gamma Mission Statement expresses noble ideas.
In pursuit of these ideas, and to ensure the quality
of nursing care provided to our community, we would
like to invite you to share in the rewards of mentoring.
Our student members, recent graduates, and those exploring
new practice roles and settings in their careers, can
benefit greatly from this time-tested exchange between
expert and novice. The nature of any mentoring relationship
is based on what the mentee needs and what the mentor
is willing and able to provide. This might involve replying
to an email, having a conversation on the phone, or
perhaps allowing someone
to "shadow" you in your practice ~ your level
of involvement is totally up to you. Information regarding
mentoring can be found in the excellent report "Advisor,
Teacher, Role Model, Friend: On Being a Mentor to Students
in Science and Engineering" produced by the
National Research Council, whose members are drawn from
the councils of the National Academy of Sciences, the
National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of
Medicine. Please feel free to contact us with any questions
or concerns you may have. As members of the International
Honor Society of Nursing, we honor our profession by
offering its future leaders the benefit of our experience.
Thank you for your consideration. We
hope to be talking with you soon...
