Engaging in Local Development or with a Service Organization

Econ 403 is a seminar level course that includes a hands-on component: working on small groups students will have the opportunity to engage on community service research.  This is part of the Case Study.

This form of experiential learning intends to let you have a direct experience of the issues that Economic Development deal with.

See photo with students. They were awarded a nomination for their outstanding community services

Structured Reflection: From reality to theory

Your experience with community service research will expose you to issues of economic development. You will experience the need to conceptualize them. Subsequently the class will be oriented to learn conceptual frameworks that will assist you to think about development. I expect two major learning outcomes out of your experiential learning:

  1. Ability to reflect on the contexts of development, e.g. the difference between local development and international economic development.

  2. A basic proficiency to codunct economic research
