6: Remains

Remnants of Buchenwald

While visiting Buchenwald, an alert visitor can still find such remnants along the railroad tracks. Not only do these remnants make interesting memorabilia, but more importantly, they serve as proof of the activities and insidious purpose of one of the most notorious Nazi concentration camps. They can be viewed as pieces of the larger picture, which can be completed in a way similar to a jigsaw puzzle or mosaic; in addition, they stimulate the imagination and activate feelings and emotions.

I do not encourage the removal of such artifacts from the site of Buchenwald or any other site.

A capped vial, possibly used in experiments.

Insulators from the electrically charged barbed wire fence.

Remnants of air raid camouflage.

Bottom right: part of a office floor opaque glass from a door glass most likely from an office window.

Dishes from the SS Dining Room. Stamped SS insignia appears on the bottom of the plate.

Bottom of a drinking glass.

Wire reinforced glass used in buildings where security was an issue.
