As always, the SSU Writing Center's primary job is to serve as a resource for students. In this capacity, we serve as the WEPT Administrative Office, which means that we provide customer service and also process and administer the exam. This includes registering students for the exam and arranging the actual test administrations. We offer pre-test assistance in the form of tutoring and general information.

To register for the exam, first pay the $35.00 fee in Customer Services on the first floor of Salazar Hall. Then bring your receipt to the Writing Center where you will fill out a registration form and select your test date from those available on the schedule.

WEPT workshops are also offered through the Writing Center. Three-day WEPT workshops are offered twice during each term. For more information and to sign up for the workshops, call the WEPT office (x42058) or the SSU Writing Center (x44401). Students should plan to attend all three sessions of each workshop.

Note: The SSU Writing Center does not create or evaluate the actual test. In accordance with the CSU policy which the WEPT fulfills, the essay prompts are created and students' responses are evaluated by SSU faculty members. Counseling regarding a specific exam that you've taken is offered by designated faculty WEPT advisors and not the SSU Writing Center.

For more information regarding the WEPT, check out the online WEPT Handbook.

WEPT results take approximately three to six weeks to process.
