NHL calls upon the young one

After loosing the 2004-05 season to a lockout and alienating what fans it did have, the NHL is about to kick off a new season with a bright young star poised to provide a fresh new the face to the league: 18-year old Sidney Crosby.
Writers and players alike are already touting Crosby, only 17 when he was taken with the first overall draft pick this year by the Pittsburgh Penguins, as hockey’s next “Great One.”
Wayne Gretzky, the original “Great One,” said that if anyone were to break his scoring records it would be Crosby. He said that more than a year before the young phenom was even drafted into the league.

SSU crew team rowing their way to success

Looking for a great way to get some fresh air? An opportunity to push your body to its limit? Or maybe you are looking for an excuse to get up at the crack of dawn five days a week?
The SSU Crew team might be for you. The Crew Team is not an official sport here on the SSU campus, but that doesn’t mean that team takes crew lightly. With practices four times in the morning, and two times in the afternoon these athletes push everyday for the common passion of crew that they all share. Gennaro De Flice, a junior at SSU recalls his favorite moments being a part of crew.

There is more than just attending Church on Sundays’. Watching NASCAR is where it’s at these days on Sunday.
Every Sunday NASCAR fans worldwide tune-in to watch their favorite driver finish strong. Although there is a rivalry among many drivers’ fans, i.e. Dale Earnhart Jr. fans and Jeff Gordon fans, there is still this overwhelming sensation of family and unity between NASCAR fans in general, regardless of who their favorite driver is.

The STAR paddles its way in a kayak

With the bow of the kayak slicing through otherwise tranquil waters, the sun settles on top the golden hills of Northern California sending a rusted red luminescence over the lake, and for the moment, the world is flawless.
One is in need of a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life or in search of an exciting outdoor adventure, little else offers more enjoyment for the novice and veteran alike than kayaking.

Dodgeball being thrown at intramurals

“If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball,” quote used from Ben Stiller’s movie Dodgeball.
Intramural dodgeball is fairly new here at the SSU’s Recreation Center. Last semester was the first intramural dodgeball league.
To be a part of the intramural Dodgeball league included a payment of $50 per team and a minimum of ten players. If you had a coed team you needed a minimum of two girls on the court at all times, unless they get hit out.

The next Vick experience

After his brother went on to make himself the most exciting player in the NFL, Marcus Vick, is following his footsteps at Virginia Tech. Or is he?
Vick took over the quarterback position this season after being suspended from the University last season. Michael, his brother also starred at Virginia Tech playing quarterback.
Vick was suspended after he was arrested, along with teammates Mike Imoh and Brenden Hill, for giving alcohol to 14 and 15 year old girls last February. He avoided jail by pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge and a fine in September. Vick also had sex with one of these girls and he was 19.
I have no idea why Vick would do something like this.
