An article appeared in the
STAR last week in which the headline said the renovation of Salazar Hall
has been delayed. In fact, that is not the case.
The Salazar Hall renovation is due to be completed by August 1, 2002.
This
is still the case.
Salazar Hall is due to be open and be fully functional by the beginning
of the Fall 2002 semester.
This is still the case.
There have been a few changes and/or enhancements to Salazar Hall since
renovation began. The largest was the installation of an updated air conditioning
/ chilling system which will require less energy, provide increased indoor
air quality, and require less demand on the existing campus chiller system.
A domino effect takes place in Fall 2002 once the renovation is complete:
August:
Enrollment and Student Academic Services (ESAS), most Administration &
Finance programs, the STAR, the Masters in Computer and Engineering Science
Program including 7 labs, the Technology High School, an the various classrooms
move into Salazar Hall.
September: demolition of the Village and Administration & Finance
Center (temporary buildings) takes place.
October: Construction begins on the student Recreation Center.
