Read
about the job
of a nurse researcher. The
Long Island Breast Cancer Study Overview of Chapter 3:
Reading Research Reports. Chapter 3 is designed to
provide you early on with an understanding of the
nature of research reports. It offers some
practical assistance in reading research reports,
with an emphasis on journal articles. Research literature is
sometimes anxiety-provoking because of its jargon,
its dense and impersonal language, and its
presentation of statistical information. Therefore,
you will need some assistance in learning to read
research reports--and in being persistent in your
reading, even in the face of a daunting amount of
new kinds of information. Initially it is helpful to
read research reports simply to get the gist of the
report (i.e., to understand what the basic story
is) without worrying about technical details. Later
in the course you'll learn how to more completely
"translate" a research report. Study
Chapter 3 in the text, pages 51-70. Use the forum
