Charge of the Fee Advisory Committee

Reports To: President
Membership:

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs* (Chair);
Chair of the Academic Senate*;
Chair of Senate Student Affairs Committee*;
President of the Associated Students*;
Four students recommended by the Associated Students Board; and one Staff Representative.  Students must constitute a voting majority on the committee.
*Can appoint designee if unavailable to serve.

 

Term and Appointment: By position, or those recommended to be appointed on a yearly basis.
Meeting Schedule: One meeting a month for 1-2 hours, plus one weekend in Spring semester for IRA funding proposals.
Charge to Committee:

1. Offer recommendations on the allocation of student fee dollars.

2. Provide advice regarding proposed fee actions for mandatory and course fees.

3. Prior to increasing campus mandatory fees or requesting the establishment of a new campus mandatory fee, an advisory student referendum shall be conducted.  Alternative consultation mechanisms are permitted if they can be demonstrated to be more effective in achieving appropriate and meaningful consultation.  The fee advisory committee’s responsibilities are as follows:

    • If conducting a referendum, the fee advisory committee will issue a voter pamphlet providing objective analysis of the proposed fee action and statements solicited by the committee for and against the proposed fee action.
    • If using alternative consultation, the fee advisory committee will oversee any written material regarding the new fee or fee increase to provide objective analysis.
