Welcome to the Office of the Provost
The Provost at SSU is the chief academic officer of the university and provides the leadership required to ensure continuous quality improvement of the university's academic programs. As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Provost is a key contributor to the development of all major university policy decisions. In collaboration with the academic deans and the faculty in the Academic Senate, he establishes, coordinates, and implements academic goals, educational policy, curriculum planning and development. He is also responsible for program review, funding support, resource allocation, and personnel actions pertaining to faculty and academic staff in the context of statewide collective bargaining agreements. He acts as the President's designee on campus, local, regional, state, national and CSU committees, and acts as President in his absence.

Eduardo M. Ochoa began serving as Provost at Sonoma State University in July 2003. Previously he served as Dean of the College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona. A native of Argentina, he holds a B.A. from Reed College, a M.S. from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from New School University.
