All images (and charts) must have alternate text. ALT text is what assistive technology will read in place of the image. ALT text must be equivalent and appropriate - it must convey the intended meaning of the image. In Windows PowerPoint, pull down the Format menu and select Picture, then click the Web tab and type the Alternative text into the text field. The Mac OS version of PowerPoint (in Office 2004) doesn't provide a method of adding ALT text. Mac users will need to use a 3rd party tool like LecShare to add ALT text. If you don't have access to a 3rd party tool, make sure the meaning you intend to convey with the image is included in the slide text or Notes field.

One more thing: before inserting large images into PowerPoint, resize them in Photoshop or some other graphics application. This will reduce the size of your presentation and make download a lot faster.
