Steering Committee Meeting Minutes February 11, 2009

Notes

  1. General update
    1. Reorganization of ATI implementation, continued (BEB, BC)
      Ongoing discussion with all campuses through the Executive Sponsors conference calls and Moodle site to identify priority accessibility issues in recognition of local conditions
    2. Announcement of additional accessible workstations (Scott, Brent)
      4 additional workstations (new, with large monitors) will be placed in the Library, 3 of the 4 in closed rooms to accommodate voice recognition software, and 1 near the Reference Desk in an open area.
    3. SSU ATI web site reorganized over the Christmas break

      1. Added “What Can I Do?” section, as related to ATI brochure
      2. Dropped  web pages of priority subcommittees.  Makes site leaner.
      3. Will be adding FAQ section per role: Faculty, Staff, Student.  Goal would be March 2009.  Will have some of our own FAQ content, as well as borrowed from other CSUs.
    4. Communication plan will be reviewed and updated
    5. Smaller ATI work group will meet from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. to discuss issues for clarification or action that should be submitted to the CO ATI group and to work on an ATI plan or roadmap for SSU going forward. This workgroup will include priority area leaders and School representatives – anyone else who wishes to be part of the workgroup, please let us know.
  2. Current status and efforts
    1. Priority 1 (Administrative Web Accessibility)

      A University Web Advisory Council is being formed as well as a University Web team. It is expected that one of the first priorities will be a review of the now-dated web policy.

    2. Priority 2 (Instructional Materials Accessibility)
      1. Increased workshop frequency and types of training offered
      2. Will be increasing information at SSU ATI website in regard to IMA and role of faculty. Tips, FAQs, tutorials, modules, etc.
      3. New EnACT project funding for 2008-2011
        1. Partnered with SFSU and SJSU
        2. Will be adding 4 additional CSU at Tier 2 partners
        3. Seeking 6-7 faculty participants for Faculty Learning Community in Universal Design for Learning. Call has been put out and is due March 6. So far, have had approximately 10 faculty members express serious interest.
        4. Seeking 1 Research Associate to work with EnACT project. So far, 2-3 faculty members have applied

      4. Will be delivering UDL in Higher Education webinar from SSU to all CSU campuses on March 11 from 12-2p in Schulz 2019.
      5. Textbook adoption issue continues to be ambiguous – need a clear statement of process and rationale
    3. Priority 3 (E & IT Procurement)

      No update for today.
