Web Accessibility Policy Statement - Draft 1

This is a draft, and not currently the policy of Sonoma State University.

It is the policy of Sonoma State University that all offical University information published on University web sites shall be accessible to all users. this includes all web pages adn Web-based services developed by or for an official department or program of the University.

The University has adopted the access standards of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and therefore all Web pages containing offical University information that are build, updated or revised after the effective date of this policy must comply with Section 508 requirements. Secion 508 establishes only a minimum standard for accessibility; developers are encouraged to go beyond the minimum whenever possible.

This policy applies when new pages are created or existing pages are updated. This policy does not apply to the personal Web pages of faculty, staff or students.

This policy will be periodically reviewed by the University, and updated to meet current web accessibility standards.

The University will develop an implementation plan to ensure that University web sites conform to accessibility standards.
