ADN-BSN-MSN Program
For the Current ADN student who is enrolled at a CNECM Community College
PURPOSE
The CNECM ADN-BSN-MSN Program offers selected qualified ADN students the opportunity to enroll at Sonoma State University in upper division nursing units required for the BSN while enrolled in their ADN program with the goal of streamlining and accelerating the educational path to the bachelors and masters degrees in nursing. In this model, there is a “stop-out” opportunity upon award of the BSN or the student may apply to continue directly into the MSN program at SSU.
Enrollment in required upper division nursing coursework will occur during the summer between the first and second year of the ADN program and following graduation from the ADN program. In this manner, the ADN-BSN-MSN student has the opportunity to complete eight (8) of the 24 required upper division nursing units prior to being formally admitted to and continuing the Post-Licensure BSN program in the Fall following graduation from the ADN program.
APPLICATION AND ADMISSION
To be qualified for admission to the CNECM ADN-BSN-MSN Program, the applicant must:
- Be currently enrolled and in good standing in a CNECM community college ADN Program (Santa Rosa Junior College, Napa Valley College, Solano Community College, Mendocino College, or College of Marin).
- Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 units of college coursework completed.
Applicants initially submit an SSU Nursing Supplemental Application for the CNECM ADN-BSN-MSN Program. Applications will be available on this site beginning December 6, 2010, and will be accepted until April 12, 2011 for admission to the program beginning in Summer 2011; the Nursing Supplemental Application can be downloaded here

The student must be admitted by the SSU Department of Nursing to begin this CNECM program. Because the summer session is conducted through the SSU School of Extended Education, the student does not need to be concurrently admitted to the university while enrolled in the summer.
Application to SSU will be required during the regular undergraduate application period in 2011-2012 for formal admission (“matriculation”) to the university in Fall 2012 (for students intending to continue the program in Fall following award of the ADN). The CSU Undergraduate Application can be submitted online at www.csumentor.edu

In the Fall Semester 2011, CNECM students apply to SSU for formal admission to the Post-Licensure BSN Program (formerly known as the “RN-BSN Program”). Following the award of the ADN in Spring 2012, and completion of Nurs 313 in Summer 2012, students continue in the BSN curriculum in Fall 2012 and may complete the remaining upper division nursing coursework and upper division General Education in two full-time semesters of enrollment at SSU (projected graduation May 2013).
IMPORTANT: The ability to complete the BSN within this time frame depends on whether and how many units of lower division GE required for the baccalaureate degree remain after the ADN program is completed. The above schedule assumes that all lower division General Education requirements for SSU have been completed by the time the student is finished with Nurs 313 (Summer 2012).
Please see the ADN-BSN Degree Worksheet, Rules for Degree Completion, check General Education requirements for the BSN. See tips on Online Statistics Courses and WEPT.
In the Fall of 2012, while enrolled in the BSN program, students may apply for admission to the MSN program for Fall 2013. Priority for admission to the MSN program will be given to CNECM students who meet the nursing graduate admission requirements.
The MSN at SSU will take from 3 – 6 semesters to complete depending on the specialty area (Family Nurse Practitioner or Leadership & Management) and whether the student elects to enroll full- or part-time.
COSTS
Enrollment costs in the summer sessions for CNECM are $350 per unit; for the Nurs 312 course in Summer 2011, the total enrollment cost will be $1400 which will be due prior to the beginning of the summer term. In general, unless a student is enrolled in 6 or more units in a term, most traditional financial aid is not available in the summer. The CNECM project has no access to special funding for student enrollment at this time.
Currently (Fall 2010), full-time undergraduate enrollment fees are $2754 per semester. The CSU always reserves the right to increase or modify listed fees and there is no mechanism to accurately predict what the fees might be for Fall 2012.
