California State University Minimum Eligibility Index
The eligiblity index is the combination of a student's high school grade point average and score of either the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The grade point average is based on grades earned during the final three years of high school (excluding physical education and military science) and bonus points for approved honors courses.
The eligibility index is calculated by multiplying the high school grade point average by 800 and adding the total score on the SAT. Or, if the ACT is used, by multiplying the high school grade point average by 200 and adding ten times the ACT composite scores.
Applicants will qualify for regular admission when the university verifies that an applicant has a qualifiable eligibility index and will have completed the comprehensive pattern of college preparatory subjects.
note: Sonoma State University is impacted for first-time freshmen. First-time freshmen must apply during the initial filing period and must provide SAT I or ACT scores. Admission to Sonoma State University is competitive. Supplemental admission criteria for first-time freshmen include, but are not limited to, high school grade point averages, test scores (SAT I or ACT), high school course preparation and a higher eligibility index than the minimum California State University.
