If you are denied admissions

If we send you a letter indicating you have not met the California State University admission requirements, but you feel that there are unusual circumstances in your case, you may submit a letter or essay to us asking for exception consideration for admission.

Since we are a State University campus, we must follow the strict admission requirements as defined by the State of California and Board of Trustees, but we are allowed a very limited number of "exceptions" each year. There is no set format for your letter or essay - it's your opportunity to be creative; to tell us about your academic past and your goals for the future; and to explain why you think Sonoma State University should make an exception in your case? Address your letter/essay to "Sonoma State University Office of Admissions and Records, 1801 East Cotati Avenue, Rohnert Park, CA 94928.

If you have already been denied admission, but your final grades are fabulous, call us and let us know. If we have room to accomodate your request, we will re-evaluate you for admission if you have your final transcript sent to us. If those final grades make you eligible for admission, then we will admit you! We do not guarantee you a space after June 1, 2007, but call us to find out. We do not guarantee on campus housing for First Time Freshmen.

Please don't despair! Everyone can make themselves eligible for some future term. Call us at (707) 664-2778 or (707)664-3029 and we'll give you our expert advice on how to be admitted in the future. Sometimes it takes only one more term of community college work!
