Important information to all fall 2010 term applicants:

Thank you for submitting an application to Sonoma State University. Your  application for the $term has been received; your confirmation number is $confirmation_number

Sonoma State will process applications on a rolling basis (in the order received) starting December 1, 2009. Our goal is to notify all applicants of an admission decision by March 1, 2010.

In the event that Sonoma State University receives a high volume of applications priority will be given to local service area students. 

Out of service area applicants may be placed on a space available waitlist.

Only complete applications are reviewed for an admission determination.

If your file is deemed incomplete or if any documents are needed we will post this request in your  Sonoma State University “applicant self-service account”, which will made available to you starting on December 14, 2009.

In order to activate your Sonoma State University “applicant self-service account”, go to http://www.sonoma.edu/ar/online_services/self_service  and then periodically check the account for information pertinent to your admission for the fall 2010 term.

What is typically needed for your application to become a complete file and ready for review:
First time freshmen applicants:
Failure to adhere to requirements below will void the processing of your application for fall 2010.

  • Fall 2010 term application.
  • Payment of the $55 application fee.  If you are paying by check or money order it is due 30 days from your application submission date.   
  • No official transcripts are required at this time. First time freshmen applicants are reviewed on self reported information on the application. Please  check your “applicant self-service” account on a weekly basis starting on December 14, 2009 to see if your file is complete.
  • SAT or ACT test results are required and the test(s) must be taken no later than December 2009 and test results must be received by February 1, 2010.  
  • If you have Advanced Placement (AP) and /or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test(s), be sure to submit one official set of scores.
  • A final official high school transcript that shows your high school graduation date is due in the Office of Admissions by July 10, 2010.
  • All First time freshmen are required to attend a mandatory orientation, failure to register and attend an orientation by the mandated due dates will void any offer of admission from Sonoma State University.

Transfer student applicants: 
Failure to adhere to requirements below will void the processing of your application for fall 2010.

  • Fall 2010 term application
  • Payment of the application fee $55, if you are paying by check or money order it is due 30 days from your application submission date.
  • Please check your “applicant self-service” account on a weekly basis starting on December 14, 2009 to see if your file is complete and ready for review.  Any needed documents will be posted to your account and it’s your responsibility to submit these documents.
  • One official transcript from every college and /or University attended must be received by the due date indicated on your “Applicant Self Service”.  
  • If you are a U.S. Veteran a copy of your DD214 is needed. 
  • If you have Advanced Placement (AP) and /or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test(s), be sure submit one official set of scores.
