Black History Month Film Series

Associated Students Productions and Black Scholars United are excited to continue the Black History Month Celebration with the Black History Month Film Series. Films will be shown Wednesdays at 7:00pm in the Sonoma Student Union MPR. This event is FREE to all.

Celebrate Black History month by joining Black Scholars United in viewing films depicting pivotal events, moments, and figures in black history. Movies will be shown every Wednesday during the month of February and all are welcome. The schedule for films shown is as follows:

*2/4 The Great Debaters: Denzel Washington leads the all black Wiley College debate team in the true story of their struggle to obtain equal footing with white debate teams in the Jim Crowe south.

*2/11 When We Were Kings featuring speaker Professor Mike Ezra: A documentary by Leon Gast about the Rumble in the Jungle Match between Mohammad Ali and George Foreman

*2/18 Hotel Rwanda: Don Cheadle leads up the true story of Paul Rusesabagina, a Rwanda Hotelier who shelters threatened Rwandan natives during the Genocide of 1994.

*2/25 Higher Learning: Tyra Banks and Laurence Fishburne head up a cast depicting the experience of some of the first black freshmen at Columbus University.
