Positions and Responsibilities:

 Assistant to Fisheries Technician

Responsibilities: Assist in the collection of fisheries dependent data for commercially caught groundfish in Bodega Bay. This entails examining commercial landings by market category for fish species, length, sex, and age composition. Assist with creel census of the sportfish skiff-fishery in Bodega Bay to include conducting dockside interviews, identifying the catch to species, and recording individual fish lengths. Position will lend experience in biological data collection and subsequent data entry and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

 Possession of a valid California Driver's License.

Desired Qualifications:

 Equivalent to completion of two years of college with a minimum of ten units in biological or chemical sciences. Experience in surveying, studying or evaluating fish or wildlife populations, data entry and analysis, or working in a chemistry laboratory would be helpful. Knowledge of marine fish species identification, species anatomy, and the use of taxonomic keys is desirable. Also, applicant should be familiar with computer spreadsheet and data analysis programs.

Terms:

Volunteer (5-10 hours a week),

Internship (10-20 hours a week),

Temporary Employment (40 hours a week), $1735.80/Month. Must meet both minimum and desired qualifications for employment.
