Kirsten Ely received her BA from UC Berkeley in Anthropology in 1979
and her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in Business, specializing
in Economics and Accounting in 1988. She has taught at UCLA, Emory University,
and Georgia Tech. Her teaching ranges from all levels of financial accounting
to accounting information systems. She likes to explore teaching methods
that reach all types of learning styles. Her research examines the way
companies disclose information to shareholders as well as the way this
information is incorporated into prices. Specific areas have included
earnings, leases, and intangible assets. She is currently researching
the way firms disclose information concerning environmental sustainability.
She enjoys the synergistic way teaching and research blend to continually
challenge her intellectually and stimulate growth.

Armand Gilinsky, Jr. is Professor of Business at Sonoma State University,
where he teaches Strategy and Entrepreneurship. In recent years he has
served as Director of SSU's Entrepreneurship Center, Wine Business Program,
and Small Business Institute. He previously held teaching appointments
at the Harvard Business School, CSU Hayward, and Northeastern University.
He holds the Ph.D. in Business Policy from Henley Management College/Brunel
University (London), and M.B.A. in Finance from Golden Gate University,
an A.M. in Education Administration and Policy Analysis from Stanford
University and an A.B. (honors) in English from Stanford University.

Previous professional experience includes consulting with the World
Bank,
USAID, the United Nations, and the International Center for Research
on
Women. He has served as Director of Regional Development for the
Government of Jamaica, president of the faculty union, as an elected
representative to the California State University Senate, and on the
boards of non-governmental organizations. He has taught and consulted
in
20 different countries and recently has served as a consultant to the
Caribbean Development Bank on development strategies for Dominica,
International project director at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil,
and faculty member on the University at Sea. Professor Girling is
currently a Fulbright Senior Scholar (2005-2010). He is the author of
over 50 articles and books. Professor Girling is the author of
Multinational Institutions and the Third World (1985); Structures of
Dependency (1973) Education; Management and Participation(1990) A Escola
Participativa (1998) over 50 articles and monographs. He holds a Ph.D.
from Stanford University.

David received his Ph.D. from Florida State University in Business Administration
and recently completed his dissertation that examined how the cultural
consensus model can be applied to consumer culture, organizational culture,
and cross-cultural research in Marketing. David received his Bachelors
degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford
University in 2000, and received an M.B.A. from San Diego State University
in 2003. He worked for two years at STMicroelectronics as both a Manufacturing
Supervisor and as an Industrial Engineer. David’s research has
been published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the
Journal of Interactive Advertising, and in the proceedings of a number
of conferences.

Doug Jordan earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Following graduation, he served
for four years as a U.S. Navy officer.
After retiring from the Navy, Doug worked in the aerospace industry for
General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas, and Boeing in Seattle, Washington.
In 1997, he left Boeing and returned to school at the University of Texas
at Arlington. He graduated in 2001 with a Ph.D. in Business Administration,
and joined SSU in September 2002. His teaching and research interests
are corporate finance and investments. Doug resides in
Santa Rosa with his wife, Ann, and twin sons.

Sandra Newton is Assistant Professor in the Business Department of the
School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University. Dr. Newton’s
major research interests include organizational impacts and behaviors
of information technology (IT) professionals and information technology,
e-commerce, and customer service related issues in the wine industry.
She has published research articles in Information Resource Management
Journal, Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, International Journal
of Wine Marketing, Journal of Computer Information Systems, and Journal
of Internet Commerce. Dr. Newton teaches Introduction to Management Information
Systems, Organizational Behavior, Business Statistics, as well as the
graduate Management Information Systems course. She received her Ph.D.
in Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida
in 2006.

Michael Santos is an assistant professor of finance in the business
administration department. He taught previously at Dalhousie University,
Halifax, Canada, and at Merrimack College, Andover, Massachusetts. He
holds a Ph.D. from Boston College.
His research interests are in corporate and international finance. His
currently published papers use the Capital Asset Pricing Models to measure
firm stock price reactions to firm specific or external global events.
He believes that teaching in finance can be enhanced with inter-disciplinary
approach with the focus on corporate governance.

Elizabeth "Liz" Thach,
Ph.D. is a Professor of Management and an instructor in the Wine
Business Program at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California.
Her areas of expertise include Human Resource Management, Leadership
Development, Wine Business Strategy, Training & Organization
Development and Change Management. She started teaching as a full-time
professor at SSU in the Fall of 2000. Prior to coming to SSU, Liz
worked for 18 years in management and executive positions with Compaq,
AT&T Broadband (MediaOne Group & USWest), Amoco, and Texas
Instruments. Her work included global leadership, organizational
development and human resource work in more than 15 countries. Today
she maintains her connections to the business community with part-time
consulting in the wine, telecomm, high tech, and banking industries.
Liz holds a doctorate in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M
University (1994); an M.A. in Organizational Communication and Management
from Texas Tech University (1987), and a B.A. in English from College
of Notre Dame in Belmont, CA (1983). She has published more than
50 articles; 3 book chapters, and 2 books.

Dr. Villarreal is a native Texan who received his Ph.D. in Advertising
from the University of Texas at Austin. His expertise is in adult and adolescent
Hispanic consumer behavior. His research focuses on the individual and combined
effects of psychological variables, cultural values, and gender on brand attitudes,
brand loyalty, and media consumption. Another important goal of his work is
to apply sophisticated statistical methods to advance studies concerning behavioral
differences among Hispanics. Dr. Villarreal teaches Introduction to Marketing,
International Marketing, and Integrated Marketing Communications. When not
working, he enjoys spending time with his family, flamenco guitar and music,
and foreign travel.
