Graduation Procedures for Filing for MBA DegreeMBA students applying for graduation must complete the following forms: Application for Award of Master's Degree This form can be submitted up to a year in advance of your anticipated graduation. Submit completed form to Admissions and Records. Filing deadlines can be found at www.sonoma.edu/ar/graduation/. Download this form here or locate a copy in the SBE main office, Stevenson Hall 2042, or Admissions and Records, Salazar 2030. This form does not require any signatures or fees. MBA students file the Advancement to Candidacy form (GSO1) prior to starting the Culminating Project. Students completing the culminating project in their capstone course (BUS591 or 592) will be advised by their instructor. Students doing an individual project must file the GSO1 form prior to enrolling in BUS 599 Master's Degree Directed Research (a restricted class). Fill out the form and get the signatures of your committee members and the MBA Coordinator. When the form is complete, take it to the School of Business and Economics office in Stevenson 2042. If you are doing an individual project you will be added to the BUS 599 permission screen so that you can register for the class. All this must be done before the deadline to add a class. If you are doing an individual project, you might find it advantageous to complete the form before the end of the previous semester so that it can be filed in a timely manner.
The GSO2 form is to be filled out and taken to the defense of your culminating project. After a successful defense your Professor or Chair will sign the form. Turn it in to the MBA Coordinator who will complete the process. This is not a graduation application. To graduate, you must also fill out a graduate application (see above) usually a year before your graduation date. When filling our the GSO2 do not list any foundation courses you had to take. List Required and Elective courses taken in numerical order or by semester taken with the appropriate grade. Include courses that you are currently taking in which no grade is yet assigned, but leave the grade column blank for these courses. These courses should be at the end of the course list. Do include any course work that are transfer units preapproved by the MBA Coordinator.
