This lecture will focus on the rise of Hindu nationalism in India, the role of the Indian American diaspora in catapulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party to electoral victory in 2014 and 2019, and how South Asian American activist groups are organizing against the currents of Hindu nationalism in our diasporic communities. The Feminist Lecture Series is part of the Women’s and Gender Studies Department’s Gender Studies Program Series and is made possible by funding from the SSU Instructionally Related Activities Program. For more information, contact lober@sonoma.edu
