About Sigma Alpha Epsilon

The mission of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is to prmote the highest standards of frienship, scholarship, and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunicated in our creed. SAE is North America's largest social fraternity with more than 280,000 iniated members.

The SSU Alpha-Alpha Chapter was founded on February 21, 1988 and has since remained a staple of the greek community on campus. A nearly annual recurring winner of the Greek Olympics, largest standing membership among local fraternities, an avid actor in the IFC (Inter Fraternity Council), SAE's presence is difficult to overlook. The host of some of the largest social gatherings associated with SSU, including our annual Luau, Boxer Bow Tie, and Mardi Gras Events, as well as Fall 2007's smash hit Heaven and Hell. However, it is not the achievements that make SAE, but rather the brotherhood and life long friendships it forms. Sigma Alpha Epsilon, becuase memories aren't made in class.

Philanthropies

SAE Recess - Founded last Spring, this new annual fundraiser, pits girls against one another in various elementary school recess type games (tug-o-war, steal the bacon, etc.). The overall points standing leader at the end of the day is declared the winner, and all proceeds are donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Lake Sonoma Clean-ups- A long standing, bi-annual event, in which the brothers of SAE, along with many sutdent organizations willing to join, makes a day long trip up Highway 101, to Lake Sonoma for a shore clean-up effort. This event provides a great opportunity for both our chapter, as well as SSU as a whole to participate in environmental safety and preservation activities.

Petaluma Boys & Girls Club - Members of the chapter are encourged to make regular trips to the club in order to help provide assistance and postive role models for young children in an attempt to keep them off the streets and positive and constructive peer environments.
