WHAT IS ODP?
Beginning with its inception in the early 90’s, OutDoor Pursuits has been comprised of a small group of students whose shared love for the outdoors has resulted in affording the campus community an adventurous and memorable way to experience the natural world at a low cost.  At Outdoor Pursuits we consider ourselves stewards of the earth and we are continuously evolving our methods of practicing minimum impact philosophies, educating about sustainability and working to facilitate safe and ecologically sound activities.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Come to the Outdoor Resource Center during office hours located on the 1st floor of the Recreation Center or call us at (707) 664-DIRT.  Trips can be paid for with cash, check or credit card and are sold on a first come first serve basis.  Sign up early to ensure your spot!

WHAT GEAR WILL I NEED?
We will provide all the technical gear you’ll need for any of our water and climbing trips.  For our backpacking trips you are responsible for providing your own backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, clothing and personal items.  If you don’t own these items you can rent them at an extremely low cost from the Outdoor Resource Center.  Your leaders will give you an exact list of what trip specific things you should bring at your pre-trip meeting.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?
Campground permits, maps, food (on multi day trips), maintenance of group gear (stoves, water filters, tents, first aid and cook kits), administrative costs and leader training.  FOR THE FIRST TIME trip fees will include the price of group transportation and gas expenses so there are no hidden costs!

WHAT IS ODP'S REFUND POLICY?
To maintain the viability of our program, we cannot give refunds unless the trip is canceled by ODP.  On occasion we are forced to cancel trips due to inclement weather or low enrollment.  If you have already paid for a trip but cannot attend we recommend you sell the trip spot to someone else.  The ODP office staff is willing to help you in this process.

WHO WORKS FOR ODP?
ODP’s student leaders are some of the most adventurous, fun loving individuals you’ll find at Sonoma State.  Trained in CPR/First Aid as well as Wilderness First-Aid, their unique expertise and voracious appetite to learn and educate will help ensure a memorable experience for all.

HOW DOES OUTDOOR PURSUITS RATE THEIR TRIPS?
Kickback ---- A relaxing trip with minimal physical labor involved.
Moderate---- Your muscles may ache but nothing too hardcore.
Burly --------- Prepare to face a mental and physical challenge.

Please Note:  All ODP trips have a degree of risk involved

POLICIES & PROCEDURES
In attempting to infuse more sustainable practices in each of our trips all meals are vegetarian and primarily organic.  ODP leaders are proficient in Leave No Trace ethics and will help educate on the proper ways to practice minimum impact philosophies.  Participants are expected to respect these ideals by also refraining from any drug, alcohol or tobacco use on all ODP trips.  All participants must attend a pre-determined pre-trip meeting to meet trip leaders, discuss trip logistics and fill out a waiver and medical form.  *The PRE TRIP IS MANDATORY.

CUSTOMIZED TRIPS
Have an idea for an amazing outdoor adventure?  Together we can help plan, facilitate and even lead your very own customized trip.  Whether you are an academic class, organized club, athletic team, community group or simply a group of friends, we can accommodate something for you.  Inquire at the Outdoor Resource Center on the 1st floor of the Rec Center or call us at (707) 664-DIRT.

Please note:  Contact us at least 3 weeks in advance to you proposed trip date so that we can adequately plan for a memorable experience.
