Avalanche 101 Workshop

February 23rd, 2010

Avalanche

Join the director of Outdoor Recreation at Sonoma State and experienced mountain traveler Ryan Hammes as he teaches the basics of snow chemistry and travel. We’ll examine the gear necessary to test the snow pack, learn tips for traveling in snow environments, and discuss how to plan ahead and prepare in case an avalanche should occur. This will be an outstanding opportunity to learn from an experienced individual and is invaluable information for skiers, snowboarders, mountaineers, and those who just enjoy playing in the snow!
