Campus Recreation Membership Policies and Procedures 2008-2009

  1. To be eligible for use of Campus Rec Facilities, you must be currently enrolled at SSU, or maintain a Campus Recreation membership.
    1. The following individuals qualify for Campus Rec membership
      1. Students, Staff, Faculty, Alumni, Extended Education, Lifelong Learning, Retiree or Emeritus, and their guests.  (For more information and to see if you qualify see Eligible Users)
  2. Upon becoming a member you will be issued a membership card, which must be shown when entering the facility.
    1. Your membership fees are non-transferable, nonrefundable, and fees are NOT pro-rated.
    2. Any Unauthorized ID’s/ Passes will be confiscated and may result in loss of member privileges to the facilities.
  3. Your membership to the Campus Recreation allows you to gain access to the following free programs:
    1. Fitness Center and Cardio Alley equipment, Climbing at the Rock Wall, Ring of Fire Running Track, Game Room games and equipment, both Everest and McKinley gyms, both Niagara and Silver Strand Studios when available, Locker room with daily locker access, *note other programs including massage and personal training are available at an extra cost.
  4. Members will be notified one month prior to when their membership will expire.

 

Eligible Users of Campus Rec Facilities

  1. Student: Any student currently enrolled at Sonoma Sate University with a valid ID card and with the current semester fees sticker is allowed to use the facility.  The semester fees sticker is available at Customer Services.
  2. Faculty/ Staff: Any current employee of Sonoma State University is eligible to purchase a membership to the Campus Recreation Facilities.
  3. Emeritus/ Retiree: Any former Sonoma State University employee having been honored with Emeritus status or officially designated, as a retired employee is eligible to become a member to the Campus Recreation Facilities.  Those members who qualify as Emeritus or Retiree receive their membership at no cost.
  4. Alumni: Any person who has graduated from Sonoma State University is eligible for purchase of a membership to the Campus Recreation Facilities.
    1. However, because fees were collected a full year before the Rec Center opened, those students who paid the 2002-2003 fees but graduated before the Rec Center opened will be granted a one-year free alumni membership to the Rec Center.
    2. Eligible users need to have graduated between December 2002 and December 2004.
      1. To claim your one-year free alumni membership, alumni need to bring proof of graduation.  This can include a copy of your diploma, transcripts, or a print out from People Soft, showing the year that you graduated and your degree. 
    3. Alumni participants have ten years to claim their free membership, making it only redeemable until December 2014.
  5. Extended Education Students: Any student currently enrolled in the Extended Education program at Sonoma State University is eligible to purchase a membership to the Campus Recreation Facilities.
  6. Lifelong Learning Education Members: Any current member of the lifelong learning program is eligible to purchase a membership to the Campus Recreation Facilities.

 

Sponsored Members

  1. Each current member may sponsor one person to use the recreation facilities.
    1. The sponsored member must be at least sixteen years of age.
      1. Note if the sponsored member is sixteen to eighteen they must be accompanied by their sponsor at all times.
    2. The sponsored member will also be given a membership card and must present it at all times when entering the facility.
    3. Sponsored members are NOT allowed to sponsor another member.

 

Types of memberships and passes
         The following types of memberships are available to the Campus Recreation Facilities.  An eligible user is allowed to purchase a semester or yearly membership.  The semester membership is valid during the Fall and Spring semesters only.  The yearly membership is valid for one calendar year (365 days) after purchase date.  (See prices in the Prices section for prices for all the membership options)

  1. Recreation Center Only: This type of membership is available to any of the eligible user and allows the member to gain access to the Recreation Center anytime operational hours.

 

  1. Pool Only: This type of membership is also available to any eligible user and allows the member to gain access to the pool during Campus Rec Swim hours.
  1. Both: This type of membership allows the member to use the both of the facilities during operational hours.

 

  1. Ten Punch Pass: Any of eligible users can purchase a ten-punch pass to the Recreation Center or to the Pool.  Punch Passes are valid for only ten visits however they do not expire.
  1. Daily Passes: Any eligible users that do not wish to purchase a semester or a yearly membership to the Recreation Facilities can purchase daily passes.

 

  1. Guest Passes: Students and those with current memberships to the Recreation Center may sponsor guests for one visit under the follow conditions.
    1. Passes are good for a one-day’s visit.
    2. A current eligible user is allowed a maximum of three guests per visit.
    3. Sponsoring individuals are responsible for their guests.
    4. Guests are required to check in at the front desk with their guest pass.

Campus Membership Prices

  1. Expiration Dates: Fall Semester memberships will be on sale starting the second week of August and are valid from the start of the fall semester till the end of intersession in January.  Spring Semester memberships are valid from the first day of winter intersession through finals week in May.
  2. Free Week: The first week of the semesters, (Fall, Spring, and Summer) are free weeks.  Call ahead of time to check these dates.

Parking

  1. Parking permits are available for purchase at Customer Services.  Daily passes are available at the parking kiosk at the entrance of the University or at the parking lot meters.  Parking regulations and details are available at Police and Parking Services.
