Particpants in group exerciseOur Size

Summer Central is open to a maximum of 24 participants per session. Our four person team of counselors creates a participant-to-staff ratio of a maximum 6-to-1. Such a ratio allows the optimum environment for achieving our goals. Young people will be encouraged to communicate openly regarding group decision-making.

Our Staff

Our counselors are either current or recently graduated Sonoma State University students. Some of us are aspiring teachers and also have a variety of camp counseling experiences. Coming from diverse backgrounds, all of us have held leadership positions and understand what is necessary to facilitate a positive learning environment. We are eager to work with young people and create fun memories that will help them grow.

Our Location

Sonoma State University is a great location for a summertime youth program. The campus offers many benefits for Summer Central participants, such as:

  • Introducing youth to SSU and allowingthem to become part of the campus community.
  • Campus resources available to Summer Central participants include: information and technology resources, recreational facilities, and specialized classroom space.
  • Sonoma Statès location is centralized to the community for convenient pick-up and drop-off. During the summer, campus activity slows which promotes a quiet and relaxed environment.
