Dear Super Kids Camp Families,

We are on to session three, and in honor of a very successful first two weeks, we here at SKC think that a PARTY is an appropriate way to celebrate.  That’s right campers; we are going to party all week long with our theme “PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR!” Lace up your dancing shoes, because this week Super Kids are going to cut a rug….

MONDAY: To kick off this week-long party, campers will be busy making their very own paper Mache disco balls.  They will also warm up to a raving game of charades and then head to the duck pond for a picnic lunch.  Amongst all of this madness, campers will get their climb on at the ROCK WALL!
Homework for the week: Create a totally rockin’ rock and roll outfit for our dance party on Thursday.

TUESDAY: Woohoo there’s a party in the POOL!  Before heading to the pool, campers will enjoy the activities No Child Left behind Tag and Guitar Art Works.  Then, it’s off to the pool for an afternoon pool party.  Campers will play pool games and listen to music for this special pool time day.  Parents, please send your child with a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and lifejacket/water wings if needed.  We will be at the SSU pool from 1:30-3:30.

WEDNESDAY: Super Kids are off to spend the afternoon at Pump It Up in Cotati.  The bus will leave SSU at 11:30 am and return around 3:30 pm.  Please send your campers with a bag lunch and water bottle, as they will need all the energy they can get.  We are asking that you please not send your camper with money.

THURSDAY: It’s finally the day we have all been waiting for.   Super Kids, I hope you are dressed and ready for our traditional SKC rock and roll party.  After a morning of mini explorations and a camp game of kickball….campers are invited to Super Kids style dance party.  The party will include traditional dance party games as well as games such as So You Think You Can Dance, karaoke, and a Super Kids Idol.  Today’s dress up theme: Rock and Roll Super Stars!

FRIDAY: It’s Friday, which means it is time to wrap this party up.  Not to worry, we are going out with a bang!  The morning will begin with more art and sport activities, which will lead into a picnic lunch and another afternoon at the pool.  Parents, please send your child with a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and life jacket/water wings if needed.  We will be at the SSU pool from 1:30-3:30 this afternoon.

PARENTS: Payment for Session 4 is due no later then Friday the 26th in order to avoid late charges.  There will be NO CAMP Friday, July 3rd.  We currently have room in all of our sessions so please pass the word onto family and friends who may be interested.  Also, feel free to talk with any of our camp staff, as we are here to you!

March, 2009

Dear Super Kids and Families,

Summer is creeping up fast and here at Super Kids Camp we are revving up for another unforgettable season. The summer schedule is loaded with cool field trips, awesome special events, and fun weekly themes!  This is going to be the best summer yet with field trips to Party Jump, Cal Skate, Samuel P. Taylor State Park, the Cotati Fire House, and much more.  Some of our special events will include activities like a Rock and Roll party, crazy science fair and tarantula show case, tumbling activities, and a huge water slide.  That’s not it campers!  In response to requests made last summer we have decided to add another weekly activity to our schedule… we will be ROCK CLIMBING on Monday’s.  For more information about the summer 2009 schedule check out the Super Kids Camp website.
In order to promote sustainability, and cut summer costs, SKC has decided to go paperless.  This will be the last newsletter sent home!  For information regarding the weekly schedule, parent newsletters, camp registration, and more, visit our website at www.sonoma.edu/campusrec/youth/superkids/  or go to www.sonoma.edu and search Super Kids Camp.  To register, you can pick up a registration packet at the front desk of the Sonoma State University Recreation Center or download the forms online.  Camp registration will open on April 1, 2009.  Remember, priority registration goes to those who have completed the registration packet and paid for desired sessions.
GOOD NEWS: Camp prices are not going up this summer!  Due to the camp staffs effort to recruit financial and community support as well as plan a summer schedule that is cost efficient without cutting out the fun: we are able to keep camp costs low.  If you or someone you know would like information about camp donations or sponsorships, please contact Jenna as soon as possible.  You can also find sponsorship and donation information on our website www.sonoma.edu/campusrec/youth/superkids/
We expect this to be a sensational summer and hope to see you all back and ready to play hard, make friends, and enjoy the sun!  For questions regarding Super Kids Camp, please call (707) 664-4307 or email superkidscamp@yahoo.com.
