SPARC Literacy consists of 3–day training events over a 4–year period (2006-2010). Through an application process, eight grantee leadership teams per region will be selected to attend the training series. These teams will have the opportunity to learn research–based strategies for supporting family literacy as well as promoting individual and program–level growth.
Level 1 Topics Include:
- Research-based practices for home and school: vocabulary development and the alphabetic principle
- Everyday strategies for supporting children´s literacy at home
- Considerations in involving
men in children´s literacy development - Community partnerships for supporting adult learners
- Ways to promote and sustain change in programs and communities
