Full Time Mentor

Service Description
Mentors will experience a range of youth service activities. Each mentor will tutor 4 students one-on-one in the morning hours helping students improve their reading fluency and comprehension. In the afternoon hours, mentors will be placed in classrooms co-leading activities in our after school program.

Hutchins Full Time Mentor

Service Description
This exciting new opportunity is available for the first time in 2006-07 for 15 Sonoma State University students in the Hutchins Department. Through this program, students have the opportunity to spend one full school year serving the Santa Rosa community as an AmeriCorps member while earning 24 units of credit and completing degree requirements. Mentors will experience a range of youth service activities. Each mentor will tutor 4 students one-on-one in the morning hours helping students improve their reading fluency and comprehension. Half Time Mentor

Service Description
Most half-time positions will consist of mentors tutoring 2 students one-on-one helping them to improve their reading fluency and comprehension. Half-time mentors will then transition into classrooms co-leading activities in our after school program. Some mentors may serve in our evening Family Literacy program supporting group enrichment and reading activities. Learn more.

Full Time Leader

Service Description
Promise Fellow: Promise Fellows work under the direction of a supervising teacher, supporting daily program operations at one of our school sites. Promise Fellows serve as volunteer coordinators by recruiting and training volunteers to be mentors and tutors in the Sonoma SERVES program. Promise Fellows support the efforts to ensure that each child has caring relationships with adults, a healthy start, safe places to go after school, marketable skills through effective education, and an opportunity to serve the community.

Team Leader: Team Leaders work under the direction of a supervising teacher, supporting daily program operations at one of our school sites. Team Leaders provide overall leadership and guidance to a team of full-time and part-time AmeriCorps Mentors who serve directly with students participating in each program. Team Leaders support the development, training, and teambuilding for all Mentors who staff the program. They are also involved in organizing extended projects, facilitating parent involvement, and assisting in the coordination of events like book drives and National Days of Service. Learn more.
