WELCOME to the site of the Collaborative Nursing Education Continuum Model (CNECM)! This is a joint nursing education program of the nursing programs at
Specific Community College ADN-BSN Roadmaps will be posted here as they are available.
The project aims to streamline the ADN to BSN education pathway by eliminating overlaps and clearly identifying degree requirements at both educational levels. The educational plan “roadmaps” that are being developed will assist students, early in their collegiate education, to effectively chart their continuing professional nursing education from the ADN to the BSN. Recent updates to the BSN curriculum have also streamlined the educational pathway for already licensed California RNs to achieve the BSN at SSU.
The CNECM supports an educational continuum model that allows qualified ADN students to enroll in BSN courses at Sonoma State University while obtaining the Associate Degree in Nursing at their home community college. By so doing, ADN students may complete one-third (8 units) of the required upper division nursing coursework (24 units) for the BSN at SSU while enrolled in the ADN program. ADN students with a BA/BS in a field other than nursing may wish to complete the Post Licensure BSN or consider the ADN-MSN program for Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty.
Enrollment in the CNECM Program is limited to students currently enrolled in ADN programs at the CNECM community colleges listed above. If you expect to graduate from any ADN program in less than one calendar year or are already a California Registered Nurse, other nursing educational tracks are available at SSU that may be more appropriate. Please see the Post Licensure BSN webpage or the MSN FNP webpage (ADN-MSN pathways link).
Applications for Summer 2013 will be available January 15,2013. Students should NOT submit SSU application for admission for University admission if in their first year of their ADN program. Send questions to firstname.lastname@example.org with subject line "CNECM 2013".
