CAPS Staff 2011-2012

DIRECTOR

Lisa Wyatt, Ph.D., Psychologist:

Lisa received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in health psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology/ Los Angeles in 1997. She completed her APA internship at Hartford Hospital's Institute of Living where she was trained in psychological and neuropsychological assessment and clinical treatment in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Lisa also received specialized training in eating disorders and worked with national eating disorders expert, Dr. Margo Maine. Lisa completed her post-doctoral training, worked as a staff psychologist, and became Director of University of Hartford's Department of Counseling and Psychological Services. In 2007, Lisa was hired at Sonoma State University as the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and Disability Services for Students. Lisa's areas of clinical interest include: mood and anxiety disorders, developmental issues, eating disorders, and couples counseling.

STAFF PSYCHOLOGISTS

Warren Bean, Ph.D., Psychologist:

Warren received his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He completed his APA internship at the Worcester Youth Guidance Center and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He has worked for the Alcohol Education Program at the University of Massachusetts and for outpatient mental health centers in Massachusetts. Warren’s post-doctoral internship was at the Family Practice Center in Santa Rosa and he was on the clinical faculty at the Santa Rosa Family Practice Residency Program training doctors and medical students in psychology and brief psychotherapy.   Warren has worked part time for CAPS during the past few years and for 10 years has been the psychologist at AVRMC, the rural community health center in Cloverdale, California. Warren is a licensed psychologist in California and currently has a private practice in Santa Rosa.  His clinical interests include the treatment of depression and anxiety and the clinical use of relaxation and self-hypnosis.

Amber Crane, Psy.D.:

Amber received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship in university counseling centers, first here at CAPS of SSU and continuing on to Holy Names University in Oakland. Additionally, Amber has worked in community clinics in the SF Bay Area, providing psychotherapy and crisis counseling to adolescent and adult clients. Amber’s clinical interests are diverse and include working with issues of spiritual and sexual identity development and issues of grief and loss. She also enjoys working with artists of all kinds, helping them to more fully realize their creative potential and navigate the unique challenges and strengths of the artistic temperament.

Dawn Danz, Psy.D., Psychologist:

Dawn received her doctorate of psychology from Argosy University-San Francisco Bay Area campus and is a licensed psychologist in California. Prior to coming to Sonoma State she worked at Brigham Young University and several UCs including Berkeley, Irvine, and Santa Barbara. Dawn is a generalist psychologist with clinical interests that include: racial identity development, first year and transfer student concerns, couples therapy, depression, and anxiety

Katharine Hatch, Ph.D., Psychologist:

Katie received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and is licensed as a psychologist in California. Prior to arriving at SSU in 2006, she worked in the counseling and psychological service centers at U.C. Berkeley and the University of Southern California. Katie's professional interests include the prevention and treatment of depression and anxiety, eating and body image issues, and substance abuse. Other areas of interest are multicultural and LGBT identities and supervision/training.

Laura Williams, Psy.D.:

Laura received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, San Francisco Bay Area campus.  She completed one pre-doctoral internship here at SSU CAPS.  She went on to complete a second pre-doctoral internship at the Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic where she provided psychotherapy to adults, children, couples and families.  As part of her training, Laura previously worked at Santa Rosa Junior College providing psychotherapy to students.   Laura’s clinical interests include treatment of depression and anxiety, sexual identity and orientation issues, and working with those affected by trauma or abuse. 

CRISIS ADVOCATE/CASE MANAGER & CLINICAL COORDINATOR

Keri Harris, M.S.W.:

Keri is a graduate of Sonoma State University, receiving her B.A. in American Multicultural Studies and Women and Gender Studies. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. Her internships included a medical social work position with the Jewish Community Free Clinic and a graduate position with Sonoma County Mental Health.

Keri is currently a State Certified Sexual Assault Counselor and works closely with Verity (formerly United Against Sexual Assault) to end all forms of sexual violence as a Crisis Counselor. Keri is also a state certified Domestic Violence Counselor, with a concentration in intimate partner violence and stalking. Keri's professional interests include social and economic justice, cross cultural issues, multicultural and LGBTQI identities and college mental health.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

Chelsea Sloane, B.A., Graduate Student Assistant:

Chelsea is a graduate of Sonoma State University where she earned her B.A. in Psychology and minored in Anthropology. She is currently a second year student in the Masters in Counseling program at Sonoma State University where she plans to earn her Masters in Counseling and eventually obtain her Marriage and Family Therapy license and work with individuals struggling with substance abuse.

Cara Stevens, Support Services Assistant:

Cara Stevens is a native of Sonoma County and has worked in the Division of Student Affairs at SSU since 2005.  Prior to joining the CAPS team, Cara worked on campus in Early Academic Outreach serving college students, high school and middle-school students to achieve their academic best and provide them with tools to overcome barriers and maximize choices.
Cara has decades of administrative assistant experience and is responsible for making a quality first impression on those visiting or calling CAPS. She serves as an information resource and conducts duties necessary for successful day-to-day operations of CAPS. Cara enjoys lifting weights and playing football with her son during her free time.
