DIRECTOR

Lisa Wyatt, Ph.D., Director:

Lisa received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in health psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology/ Los Angeles in 1997. She completed her APA internship at Hartford Hospital's Institute of Living where she was trained in psychological and neuropsychological assessment and clinical treatment in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Lisa also received specialized training in eating disorders and worked with national eating disorders expert, Dr. Margo Maine. Lisa completed her post-doctoral training, worked as a staff psychologist, and became Director of University of Hartford's Department of Counseling and Psychological Services. In 2007, Lisa was hired at Sonoma State University as the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and Disability Services for Students. Lisa's areas of clinical interest include: mood and anxiety disorders, developmental issues, eating disorders, and couples counseling.

STAFF PSYCHOLOGISTS

Katharine Hatch, Ph.D., Psychologist:

Katie received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and is licensed as a psychologist in California. Prior to arriving at SSU in 2006, she worked in the counseling and psychological service centers at U.C. Berkeley and the University of Southern California. Katie's professional interests include the prevention and treatment of depression and anxiety, eating and body image issues, and substance abuse. Other areas of interest are multicultural and LGBT identities and supervision/training.

Michael Pinkston, Ph.D., Psychologist, Internship Training Coordinator:

Michael received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas Tech University in 1974. He became licensed as a Psychologist in California in 1976 and has provided counseling, consultation, and training in the following settings: university counseling center, community mental health, medical hospitals and clinics, psychiatric hospitals, Peace Corps Training, and an international exchange student program. He has been in private practice in Sonoma County since 1981 and has served as President of the Redwood Psychological Association and as a Board Member of the California Psychological Association. His professional interests include stress management, coping with health concerns, and dealing with life transitions.

TRAINEES

Amber Crane, M.A.:

Amber received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies where she is currently a doctoral candidate in the PsyD program. Her prior clinical experience includes providing short-term and long-term psychotherapy and crisis counseling to adolescent and adult clients. Amber's clinical interests include identity development, particularly in the areas of spirituality and sexuality, and healing from sexual abuse and other trauma. Amber also enjoys working with issues related to creativity and artistic expression.

Gabrielle Gotta, M.A.:

Gabrielle received her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She is currently working toward completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology. Her previous clinical work includes providing individual and group counseling to both adults and children from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Gabrielle has experience working with clients on a variety of presenting problems such as trauma, domestic violence, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. Her clinical interests include gender identity, sexual orientation, over-exercise and eating disorders. Her dissertation focuses on gender differences and the effects of exercise on mental health.

Natalie Ma, M.S.:

Natalie is a doctoral candidate in the clinical psychology program at The Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto, California. She received her Master in Science in Clinical Psychology in 2006 and continues to work with culturally diverse adolescents and adults. She has experience working with students and minorities dealing with issues of sexuality, identity development, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Natalie is especially interested in trauma resolution and intimate relationships. Her dissertation examines the relationship between self-consciousness and puberty in girls.

Gabriel Zamacona, M.A.:

Gabriel is a pre-doctorial intern psychologist from Argosy University. Gabriel received his B.A. in psychology from Green Mountain College where he focused on adolescent psychology. He went on to study counseling sport psychology at the University of Missouri, where he completed a thesis in personality and performance. Gabriel received his Masters from Argosy University. He is currently working on his dissertation on adult group therapy. Gabriel's research interests are; sport psychology, group therapy, psychotherapy with men, couples therapy and psychological factors of tolerance and resilience. He has clinical experience working at the counseling center of the University of Missouri, Pinole High School, the community clinic of Argosy University and the Progress Foundation. Gabriel's clinical interests are; short term therapy, identity development, spirituality, transitions and interpersonal issues.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

Keri Harris, B.A., Student Support Administrative Coordinator:

Keri is a graduate of Sonoma State University, receiving her B.A. in American Multicultural Studies and Women and Gender Studies. Keri is currently in her last year of graduate school, pursuing a Masters Degree in Social Work through Cal State Long Beach. Keri has completed an internship with the Jewish Community Free Clinic and is currently placed at Sonoma County Mental health. Her interests include ethnic studies, diversity, cross cultural issues, social and economic justice.

Catherine Lively, B.S., Student Support Assistant:

Catherine is in her second year of the Masters in Counseling program at Sonoma State. She hopes to receive her PPS credential and work in a school as a school counselor. She graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Human Development and an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and this year will complete her internship hours in two Santa Rosa schools. She loves to travel and values the insight it brings and opportunities to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
