Contract Airlines and Airfares

Fiscal Year 2009-2010

Use the navigation bar to select In-State, Out-of-State, or International fares. Airlines and airfares are defined as arrival and departure "city pairs".

The State of California contract airfares are designated as Unrestricted (YCAL), Restricted (Capacity-Controlled), and Internet (Variable) fares, and should be referenced by that designation when travel arrangements are being made by state employees. The YCAL and Capacity-Controlled fares are only available through Alaska, JetBlue, United, and Virgin America and can only be booked through one of the State of California authorized travel agencies. Typically, the travel agencies add service fees.

The Internet (Variable) fares are only available through SWABIZ (www.swabiz.com), the business portal of Southwest Airlines. Internet fares are unrestricted, offer last seat availability and are for travel in either direction of the city pair.

Note

The only acceptable method of payment is via American Express Government card clearly marked "Sonoma State University" and issued in the employee's name.

Payment

Cash, personal checks, and personal credit cards are not approved methods of payment for State of California contract Unrestricted (YCAL), Restricted (Capacity-Controlled), and Internet (Variable) fares.

Booking a Flight

Use of the State airline contract is not required if a substantially similar fare is obtained.

To book your YCAL or Capacity-Controlled flight, contact an authorized travel agency. See the following travel agency information

Contract Airlines

Please note that Alaska, United, and Virgin America airlines may assess a baggage fee which could require a payment by the traveler at the ticket counter.

YCAL fares are fully-refundable unrestricted airfares that offer last seat availability and they are for travel in either direction of the city pair.

Capacity-Controlled fares are restricted meaning that airlines set aside a limited number of seats on each flight for the State of California. These airfares are also fully refundable and they are for travel in either direction of the city pair. They are less expensive than the unrestricted YCAL fares. Capacity-Controlled fares are typically available when a traveler is able to make travel arrangements early.

Internet (Variable) fares are fully refundable unrestricted airfares that offer last seat availability and are for travel in either direction of the city pair. These Variable fares can decrease or increase during the contract cycle. Travelers are encouraged to check swabiz.com for the lowest fares.

The discount YCAL and Capacity-Controlled fares are only available through Alaska, JetBlue, United, and Virgin America and can only be booked through an authorized travel agency of the State of California.
