Illegal Discrimination: Introduction
Dr. Erma Jean Sims,
Sonoma State University
My name is Dr. Erma Jean Sims. I'm a faculty member in the School of Education at Sonoma State University. I also hold a Juris Doctor degree in Law. It is important that teachers understand their legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities in an educational setting. This legal session will focus on illegal discrimination in schools and classrooms. Teachers in the State of California are required to abide by the California State laws and the federal laws pertaining to illegal discrimination. Noncompliance with these laws can result in legal liability to you and to the school districts in which you are employed.
