Foundational Level Mathematics Teaching Credential Preparation Institute

The Foundational Level Mathematics Teaching Credential (FLMTC) Preparation Institute at Sonoma State University will prepare teachers to earn a Foundational Level Mathematics Teaching Credential. This Institute will provide intensive review of mathematics required for the CSET Mathematics tests, secondary mathematics teaching methods course work, and CSET test preparation.

The FLMTC authorizes teaching general mathematics, all levels of algebra, probability and statistics, geometry, and consumer mathematics, but not calculus or mathematics analysis.

The Foundational Level Mathematics Teaching Credential Preparation Institute will:

• provide an intensive review of mathematics concepts and skills required for the CSET tests
• provide the required secondary mathematics teaching methods course
• provide test preparation
• cover materials and fees such as SSU Extended Education class fees, reimburse the test registration fees, and credential filing costs. Participant pays for textbooks.

How Much Will the FLMTC Preparation Institute Cost?

There is no fee to participate in the FLMTC Institute, but participants must pay for textbooks. Test registration fees and credential fees will be entirely refunded to those who complete the Institute. All other course costs are covered, materials and SSU Extended Education fees.

SPRING 2013:

Spring 2013: Math 185 (Algebra/Trigonometry)
Saturdays, 9:00 AM-1:30 PM
Dates: Feb. 2, Feb 16, Mar. 2, Mar. 16, Apr. 6, Apr. 20, and May 4

Summer 2013: Math 185 (Linear Algebra)
Mon.–Thurs., 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
June 17-July 9, M-Th, 9-3, except July 4
Designed for teachers to pass CSET Subtest #I
EDSS 444: Secondary Mathematics Teaching Methods Course

Fall 2013: Math 185 (Geometry)
Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
September 14, 28, October 12, 26, November 9, 23, December 7
Math 185 (Geometry, 2 units)
Designed for teachers to pass CSET Subtest #II

JANUARY 2014:
Math CSET Completed
