SONELI: Sonoma State University Educational Leadership Institute
News and Events
Fall 2012 and Spring 2013
Check back soon, we are finalizing the details for this year's events.
In June through SONELI, Sonoma State professors joined with site or district teams of teachers and administrators for the 21st Century Learning Summer Institute sponsored by the Sonoma County Office of Education. During the institute school teams had opportunities to investigate the skills students need to successfully prepare for college and careers in the 21st century. Five professors from Sonoma State joined teams and served as facilitators, supporters and team members. Participating teams will receive follow-up support from institute staff, including Sonoma State faculty, to further project implementation.
In March 2012, Dr. Michael Kirst, President, California State Board of Education, met with small groups of area teachers, administrators, and county and district superintendents. Participants expressed support for SONELI and generated requests for more cross-county collaborations, more time with Dr. Kirst, and in-county collaborations between faculty and the Sonoma County Office of Education. Following these meetings, Dr. Kirst presented a public lecture in the Neves Evans Social Justice Lecture Series on the topic K-12 California Education: Challenges and Solutions. You can watch the recording of Dr. Kirst's presentation and download a copy of his slide presentation online at the link below.
