Sanitary Sewer
The City of Santa Rosa operates the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) located on Llano Road in Santa Rosa. The Llano Road POTW is further regulated under the federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) to ensure that discharges do not adversely affect human health or the environment. In turn, the City of Santa Rosa regulates SSU and other sewer users in an effort to keep their discharges within NPDES standards.
Sonoma State University sewer discharges are routinely monitored for certain chemicals and physical characteristics. The chemicals listed on the Total Toxic Organics List are regulated in the parts per billion (ppb) range. Chemicals listed on the TTO list should be collected in appropriate hazardous waste containers and returned to Environmental Health & Safety.
