Jagan received his Ph.D. in EE in 1972 from N.C. State. He has held faculty positions at several institutions since then. His areas of interest are communications, networking and switching. He lives in Rohnert park.

Dr. Farid Farahmand received his Ph.D. in EE in 2005 from the University of Texas at Dallas. He has several years of industry as well as academic experience and will be joining the department in January 2009. His areas of interest are optical networks, wireless and sensor networks, burst switching and communications.

Dr. Mohammad Haider received his Ph.D. in EE from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Dec. 2008 and joined the department in January 2009. Prior to starting his Ph.D., Haider had been a faculty member at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His areas of interest are analog and digital electronics and electronic circuit design, VLSI design and low power communications devices.

Saeid received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics in 1981 from Pennsylvania State University. Before joining Sonoma State , Dr. Rahimi was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology working on Deep-level Impurities in III-V semiconductors. His fields of speciality are optical and electrical properties of semiconductors.

Shally received his Ph.D. in EE in 2005 from Stanford University. He has over 15 years of industry design experience in electrical, optical and biomedical engineering. His areas of interest are in high-power lasers, quantum electronics and high-frequency circuit design.

Jen began working in the Engineering Science Department in the spring of 2008. She graduated from Sonoma State University with her B.A. in English Literature, and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in English. While attending Sonoma State, Jen worked in the Writing Center and as an Instructional Student Assistant in the Theatre Arts Department.

Hongtao received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2002 from West Virginia University. He joined the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Sonoma State University in Fall 2004. He is the co-director of the Keck Microanalysis Laboratory at SSU, which houses facilities such as Scanning Electron Microscope, Atomic Force Microscope, X-ray Diffractometer, and Auger Electron Spectrometer. His areas of interest are nanostructured semiconductors and magnets, exchange coupling, electrochemical synthesis of nanometer scaled templates.

Mark Scott received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in the area of systems software. His over 25-year computing career includes teaching at San Francisco and Sonoma State Universities and software development and management positions at HP Labs, Sun Microsystems, Microtec Research, Kabira Technologies, and various Internet and software start-ups.

Abdi Karbassi received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in electrical engineering in 2007. His area of interests are multi-functional scanning probe microscopy, Localized spectroscopy of biological samples and thin-film materials, and Microwave/RF circuit and system design. He worked at Agilent Technologies as an R&D Hardware Engineer.

Ali received his M.S. and Ph.D. in EE in 1974 from University of Pennsylvania, PA. He has over 22 years of R&D experience at IBM, AT&T Bell Labs (a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff), and Alcatel-Lucent, and over 20 years of academic experience at several institutions including Drexel University in PA and Stevens Institute of Technologies in NJ. His areas of interest are secure real-time applications over the Internet, broadband access, and metropolitan networks.

Salam Has received his Masters and Ph.D. Degrees from the University of Birmingham-United Kingdom in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. He has many years of academic experience in various Universities. He has taught courses for Santa Clara University and for The University of California- Berkeley Extension. For the past fourteen years, Dr. Marougi is working full time in the Hi-Tech industries. Currently he is with the Signal Sources Division of Agilent Technologies. His areas of interest are Test and Measurement, Signal Analysis, and Synchronization in Telecommunications.
