A Plan to Transfer into the Engineering
Program at Sonoma State
|
|
This document gives details about which courses can be transferred and applied towards the BSES degree at Sonoma State and presents a 2-year transfer plan for Santa Rosa Junior College students. For general requirements to transfer to SSU, please visit the Admission section of the SSU catalog. Transferable Courses to Meet BSES Degree RequirementsThe transfer students admitted to SSU and accepted into the BSES major can transfer up to 70 units of courses to be applied towards the BSES degree and must complete at least 30 units at Sonoma State as per residency requirement. Transferable courses applicable towards the BSES degree are those (i)designated for baccalaureate credit by the college or university offering the courses, (ii)completed by the student with acceptable grades, and, (iii)meeting the BSES curriculum requirements. Articulation Agreements to Facilitate TransfersThe courses are transferred based on (i)the articulation agreement between the public higher education institutions in California, or, (ii)the articulation agreement between transferring institution and the receiving institution (or departments), if one exists. If an applicable articulation between the transferring institution and SSU does not exist, the student's transcript is evaluated by the Admissions and Records division of SSU for the transfer of GE courses and by the Engineering Science department for the transfer of all other courses. For the existing articulation agreements between the public higher education institutions in California, please visit the website at www.assist.org and/or www.cansystem.org. Articulation Agreement Between Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) and the Engineering Science (ES) DepartmentThe ES Department has developed a course plan under which the students attending Santa Rosa Junior College can complete requirements of the first two years of the SSU’s BSES program at SRJC and then transfer into the fifth semester of the program to complete BSES degree at SSU in the next two years. Details of the Plan CSU Transfer PolicyStudents having 60 transferable semester units with a "C"
average (2.0) will be eligible to transfer to a California State University
providing a minimum of 30 units in GE, including all of Areas A and
B4, is completed with grades of C or better. LDTP (Lower-Division Transfer Patterns)The Lower-Division Transfer Patterns (LDTP) project, sponsored by the California State University (CSU) and supported by the California Community Colleges, presents potential transfer students with a set of "road maps" to follow that will ensure appropriate academic preparation for studies at CSU and that will decrease time to graduation once these students enter the CSU. The LDTP for each discipline has a statewide as well as campus-specific components. The statewide component of the LDTP is appropriate for any CSU campus that offers the major and is comprised of general education coursework as well as some courses within the discipline. The campus-specific component identifies discipline related coursework relevant to the major at the specific CSU campus. Together these components for an LDTP discipline will total at least 60 units, the number needed to transfer to CSU as an upper-division student.
