Welcome to California Cultural Studies

at Sonoma State University!

The special major and minor in Interdisciplinary Studies in California Cultural Studies (CCS) has been established in order to bring together writers, scholars, artists, and students from various fields, organizations, and disciplines whose major interests include the study of California.

California Cultural Studies aims to attract a diverse group of students, representing a number of different ethnic and cultural groups, as well as a variety of geographic regions within California, into an interdisciplinary learning community devoted to the study, preservation, and understanding of California's diverse cultural life.

The California Cultural Studies program has been designed to promote collaboration among students, scholars, and artists at Sonoma State University and to promote community involvement so that together we may pursue California-themed projects in an intellectually simulating environment. We also offer specially designed courses to highlight California's uniqueness and the diversity of cultures and landscapes.
