| How to Add an Already Full Class for Fall 2007 | |

2. Ask the professor if s/he plans on taking a waiting list for the class (you may need to attend the first class session). A. If s/he says no, you can keep trying to add the course on PeopleSoft with the hope that someone will drop the course. B. If s/he says yes, ask if s/he is planning to increase the enrollment in order to accommodate the students on the wait list. If s/he says no, the lower down on the wait list you are, the lower your chances will be of getting into the class--it will depend entirely on how many students drop the course*. EVEN IF AN INSTRUCTOR TAKES A WAIT LIST AND IS WILLING TO INCREASE ENROLLMENT, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE S/HE CAN MAKE A SPACE FOR YOU IN THE CLASS! *Sometimes instructors will give preference to graduating seniors. When an instructor begins a wait list s/he will then request the English Dept. office to restrict the course so that no one will be able to add the class unless they are on that list. Instructors will keep the wait list until the second week of the semester, in case they decide to add more students to the list. Once on the wait list, you will need to wait until the instructor gives the list of names to the English Dept. Office, before you can add the class on-line. Please do NOT call the English Dept. office before this happens to find out your status. Check with Admissions and Records for the last day to ADD/DROP. IMPORTANT: Please remember that the instructor cannot actually register you into the class! Only YOU can register yourself. What the instructor does by taking a wait list is to control who gets into the class, after other students drop the course. They are merely giving you ACCESS to add a restricted course; they are NOT actually adding you into the course.
