CHOOSING A FRESHMAN LEARNING COHORT: THE EOP ACADEMY
There are many different Freshman Learning Cohorts for you to choose from. The EOP Academy is an Academic Cohort focused on the success of our EOP students. Whatever your major or intended career, this is a great way to start your required college coursework, build community and gain confidence in yourself as a college student. The EOP Academy will prepare you to go on to success in any major.
Our students, faculty and staff create a supportive community that enthusiastically values and encourages multiculturalism. Students take part in a class similar to an AVID or Upward Bound home-room. You are introduced to support services, leadership opportunities, and a wide variety of campus social activities to help you feel at home at Sonoma. There is a strong tradition of our students going on to leadership positions on campus, including Associated Students' President.
Living Arrangements and the EOP Cohort:You don't have to live on campus to be part of the cohort. If you do live on campus, you don't have to select a particular dorm.
Planning to live on campus? In response to student questions, your EOP advisors hope the following information will make your choices more understandable.

The EOP Academy is not linked to a particular dorm/residence hall. Some living areas have higher costs, and your financial aid grants may not be enough to cover them. We strongly recommend the Residential Double Suites for financial reasons. More information on Housing costs.
You are free to choose any of the other Freshman Learning Cohorts, if you believe it meets your interests more than the EOP Academy. You will still maintain all of the benefits of being an EOP student. You will have the continued support of the EOP Community as well as the support of your FLC.
