Bryan J. Varner

Bryan J. Varner is a California attorney and a LEEDâ„¢ Accredited Professional with more than 25 years of experience. His practice is concentrated in construction, general negligence and real estate litigation. He is past president of the Redwood Empire Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute and is a Certified Construction Contract Administrator.

Michael Chambers

Michael Chambers, FAIA, FCSI, CSS, is an architect, specifier, programmer, facilitator, marketer, and educator. He has experience in education, health care, government, housing, hospitality, and sports architecture. Using his broad experience in working closely with clients in pre-design, materials selection, program analysis, post occupancy evaluation, and marketing strategies, Michael offers a diverse perspective on critical design and construction issues both as a technical architect and as an educator.

Michael is an architectural graduate of the University of Southern California, registered architect in California, and a Certified Construction Specifier. He is principal of MCA Specifications, Construction Specifications Group of Ukiah, California, and he currently teaches the Introduction to Construction Drawings in SSU's Construction Management Certificate Program.

Peter Gang

Peter Gang is a licensed architect and former hands-on General Building Contractor with over 25 years of experience in residential and commercial building. His firm, Common Sense Design, specializes in "spirited green design." In addition to ongoing responsibilities as a practicing architect, consultant, writer, teacher, and community volunteer, he continues to give presentations to a wide variety of audiences on topics related to Green Building. Audiences have included: Bioneers, Real Goods' Sol-Fest, Herbfest, local Chapters of the AIA, CSI, and ASCE, West Coast Green, and others. He is a former Advisory Board member of the California Straw Building Association, a founding Board Member of the U.S. Green Building Council -Redwood Empire Chapter and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Shems Peterson

Shems Peterson, spent 15 years in the construction trades as a carpenter/builder. He attended and completed the Building Inspection Technology Program at Butte College, and began a career as a building inspector for Sonoma County in 1987. He has spent 25 years in a variety of positions in the County, and has been the Supervising Building Inspector for the last 8 years.

Shems has taught building codes at Santa Rosa Junior College as an adjunct instructor, and at Sonoma State University's Extended Education Program for 6 years. He is certified as a Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Inspector through the International Code Council, as well as being a Certified Green Building Professional, Green Rater, and certified CalGreen inspector. He has been trained in Building Performance by the California Building Performance Contractors Association, and is licensed to teach building performance.
