EXCEL for Youth
Planning for EXCEL for Youth Summer 2012 is now in progress. Fifty classes in science, technology, and the arts will be offered from June 25 through July 27 on the campus of Sonoma State University. Please check back in February 2012 for complete program information.
The EXCEL for Youth Program offers students entering grades 4-9 a unique opportunity for academic enrichment in accelerated classes that focus on science, technology and the arts.
Courses are held on the Sonoma State University campus, and utilize labs, guest speakers, and field trips. An exciting variety of curriculums are designed to stimulate, challenge, and provide young participants with resources that enhance their learning experience. EXCEL also makes learning fun. The educational opportunities range from performing Shakespeare to solving crimes, exploring chemistry, to designing 3D animation, studying live animals to building large recycled sculpture.
EXCEL's Summer program offers one-week and two-week sessions from late June to late July. Classes are either offered in the morning or the afternoon. For students staying all day, there is a supervised one hour "lunch bunch" at no additional charge; students are supervised at all times.
