Frequently Asked Questions
Will my child be supervised?
Yes. Students are not allowed to be unsupervised while on campus. Students will be supervised during both class and breaks by their teacher or another staff person.
How many classes can a child take?
Students can take one or two classes during each session (morning and afternoon). Over the course of the three summer sessions, they may take up to a total of six classes.
Will my child go on fieldtrips?
Some classes do. If a class has a fieldtrip, we coordinate parents who are willing and available to be drivers. Please contact either the teacher or our staff directly if you are willing to help. To become a driver for a fieldtrip you must go to the Extended Education Office (Stevenson 1012) and fill out the required paperwork. This includes bringing a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
Do I have to pay to park when I drop off my child?
There are EXCEL parking passes good for the 15-minute period of drop off and pick up from classes. Passes are mailed with the student guidelines.
Can my child ride his/her bike or take the bus?
Yes. We have a special release form for parents to sign.
Can I get a refund?
A $25 nonrefundable processing fee is deducted for each class dropped two weeks prior to class start. NO refunds are given if canceling within two weeks of the first day of class.
What happens at lunch?
There is a supervised lunch period called "Lunch Bunch" from noon to 1pm. Teachers accompany students to and from the lunch area. Students are checked in, have a quiet lunch on the lawn, and then may play with sports equipment available, read, or visit with new friends. Students are not allowed to leave this area unless accompanied by an adult.
Is it overnight camp?
No, it is a commuter camp. We have a "drop off" and "pick up" area. For further information, see the student guidelines.
