About The Institute
Welcome to the OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute, an academic program designed for people 50 years old or better that provides non-credit courses and educational opportunities in settings conducive to learning.

The Institute is supported by Sonoma State University and sustained by membership fees, student donations and the Bernard Osher endowment fund.

It is a welcoming community where curious people connect with Sonoma State's intellectual resources as well as visiting experts from the Bay Area. Students share educational experiences, make new friendships and contribute in many ways to the success of the Institute.
The following is a summary of some of the program features:
- Taught in six week sessions (Fall, Winter and Spring) at all 3 locations.
- OLLI students can attend stimulating and intriguing courses and lecture series offered by distinguished retired faculty and other experts.
- Areas of study range across the Arts and Humanities, the Social Sciences, and the Natural Sciences, including special topics of contemporary interest to Institute participants.
- OLLI students at the Sonoma State Campus can purchase a courtesy package for $70 per session which provides them with a parking pass and access to numerous campus resources, including the Jean and Charles Schulz Information Center and Library, the University Art Gallery, the Sonoma Film Institute, and educational travel opportunities. Parking, food service, and other university facilities are also available.
- Courses are offered purely for the pleasure of learning--no tests or grades!
